Magetechs are magic users who fill Shield Emitters with charges of the Shield spell.
On Vesisaari, many people send their Shield Emitters to a centralized location to be refilled by a group of Magetechs. Special trips or operations that require prolonged use of shields will often employ one or more Magetechs to refill their shields on the go.
Once space travel became more prevalent, Wizards and Magetechs worked together to develop Shield Emitters that would cover an entire spaceship. These work similar to personal Shields, but consume shield spells much faster. As such, almost every spaceship has a Magetech on their crew in charge of the ship’s Shields. Smaller ships can get away with only having one Magetech, but large vessels can require up to twenty Magetechs working in shifts to keep Shields operational.
